Our mission is to get Guyana walking, running, moving, healthier and happier by 2027 as a way to lower the prevalence of non-communicable diseases such as stroke, hypertension, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease.

Raise $5 million GYD ($25,000 USD)

Launch the first-ever Cardiovascular Research and Community Engagement Fund by raising $5 million GYD. This fund will support innovative research and community programs to prevent and manage cardiovascular diseases and other non-communicable diseases.

mobilize 90,000 people

Encourage 90,000 individuals to adopt a daily practice of walking, running, and moving, fostering a community that enjoys getting fit and healthy together.

Heart disease remains the leading cause of death globally, affecting millions of lives each year. Guyana leads the Caribbean region in cardiovascular disease, with ischemic heart disease being the leading cause of death, according to Global Heart, the official journal of the World Heart Foundation. This alarming statistic highlights the urgent need for comprehensive cardiovascular health awareness and prevention programs in Guyana.

SOCA Heart 5K & 10K walk and run: September 29, 2024 World Heart Day

Join us on World Heart Day, Sunday, September 29, 2024, for the SOCA Heart 5K/10K Walk Run and Summit at the Scout Association of Guyana Headquarters Grounds from 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM

This community event aims to promote physical activity and raise awareness about cardiovascular health. Participants can walk/run, enjoy heart health screenings, visit activation booths, speakers and shop at the Farmers Market.

Whether you're an avid runner or just starting your fitness journey, this event is for everyone. Let's get moving and support heart health together.
